Abstract
We appreciate the commentaries to our review [1], received from Cruz Hernandez et al. [2], Ortiz-Vazquez [3],Arellano-Carbajal [4], Castano [5],Gold[6], and Moosavi-Nejad and Hosseini [7], who express interesting points ofview, enriching the discussion with their expertise.Fungi constitute a kingdom that can be found all around our planet since prehistoric times. Cruz Hernandez andcolleagues [2] comment on interesting historical aspects of fungi in humans’ life and emphasize that nowadays fungiplay a crucial role in basic scientific research, applied sciences, industry and economy. The impressive economicestimate of the total global market for fungal and yeast products, referred to by these authors, supports this. There arestill many areas for improvement in the field of fungal transformation and many groups around the world are activelyworking toward this goal.
