Abstract
While all adolescents are at risk for interpersonal, dating violence, LGBTQ+ teens are even more vulnerable due to real and perceived differences in their gender expression. When the differences are misunderstood, ignored, or interpreted as a threat by those in a heteronormative society who are slow to recognize and incorporate sexual diversity, the teen can feel emotionally traumatized and isolated. Even more concerning, LGBTQ+ adolescents are more frequently targeted for their differences and harmed through bullying and physical and sexual assaults.
