Abstract
The proposition of Six Degrees of Separation prompts the realization that the world is not as vast as previously envisioned. Despite the current global population exceeding 8 billion, two strangers can still establish contact through limited intermediaries. When online social networks have garnered widespread influence, can people connect through shorter distances? This issue merits contemplation. This paper described Six Degrees of Separation and the limitations of this theory in practical applications. Combined with online social networks, the paper analyzed the development and change of interpersonal connection degrees. Finally, the paper considered the actual coverage of online social networks and other issues, while also providing a reasoned projection of potential future degrees within the Six Degrees of Separation paradigm.
