Abstract

When healthcare failings occur there could be a need to consider the removal of a clinical environment from student nursing placement circuits. The decision to rest a clinical learning environment as a student education placement resulted in the need for a mechanism to support the process and so an algorithm was devised. Initially there were issues creating a flowchart to illustrate such a process and so external support was sought to enable further progress to be made. It was considered essential to have a clear and concise process that was easy to use. The algorithm was intended to contribute towards enhancing the regular internal and external quality monitoring mechanisms. The task to develop and implement the algorithm has demonstrated a willingness to promote strong cross-organisational and cross-discipline working.
