Abstract

Trypan blue dye–assisted capsulorrhexis has been found to be very useful and effective during cataract surgery. Although this technique is safe and simplifies capsulorrhexis, especially in mature white cataracts, inadvertent staining of posterior capsule and vitreous has been reported in patients with history of trauma, ocular surgery, and pseudoexfoliation. Compromised zonular integrity has been observed to be the most probable underlying etiology for such a complication. Here, we report a case of vitreous staining without any clinical evidence of zonular compromise preoperatively.
