Some 5 000 years ago, the legendary Chinese emperor Huang-Ti ordered his wife, Hsi-Ling-Shi, to find out what was damaging his mulberry trees. Hsi-Ling-Shi found white worms eating the mulberry leaves and spinning shiny cocoons.
