Abstract

This paper demonstrates that in some cases higher marginal tax rates correlate with an improved economy and when tax rates are lowered the economy weakens. Optimal marginal tax rates appear to be between 39%-50% contrary to popular belief that lower marginal tax rates will help the economy.
