Abstract

Poverty, infant mortality, one-parent homes, children raising children, latch key children, racism, child abuse, sub stance abuse, urban blight, declining test scores.... Add the phraseon the Rise to any of these terms and you have this morning's headline. The media loves to tell us how bad things are. But if we cut through the hype, how does the future look? The above problems notwithstanding, the future does not look grim, because so many concerned, determined people are coming up with solutions.
