Abstract
Carol L. Stone In 1968, Carol Stone was Rand McNally's editor for the Biological Sciences Curriculum Study Green Version, second edition. Now living and working in California, she owns the Stone Cottage, a science writing and editing service for educational publishers. She recently received a Ph.D. in Education from Stanford Univ., where she did the textbook research on which this paper is based. In addition, she has a B.A. in Biology from Kalamazoo College and an M.A. in Human Ecology from Governors State Univ.
