Abstract
It is common for patients to ask when they can return to driving or work after surgery. The answer needs to take into account the nature and severity of their condition, the usual recovery time following intervention, and any legal requirements. When considering return to driving, patients must be able to exercise judgment, have adequate response times, and be physically capable of performing all the activities to control a potentially lethal weapon. The aim of this paper is to review the driving restrictions relevant to Australian residents presenting with vascular-related disorders and to provide a summary for practicing vascular surgeons.
