Abstract

Bone morphogenic proteins (BMPs) act as inducers of diverse cellular fates in human embryonic stem cells, but the mechanisms responsible remain poorly understood. In this issue of Cell Stem Cell, Bernardo etal. (2011) demonstrate that different BMP-induced differentiation programs may be orchestrated by similar key target genes.
