It’s a universal theme in modern human life. The documentaries range from boring and factual, to intensely and graphically personal. I Cannot Tell You How I Feel takes a different approach—one that is visually engaging and highly entertaining, but skimpy on a coherent storyline. The film starts with the filmmaker’s mother in an agitated state, saying “I just cannot believe what is happening, and it’s just killing me. I hope I survive it.” What she is referring to is a move from her home in Chicago, where she has lived for 52 years, to New York, presumably to be closer to her adult children because she needs more care.
