Abstract

In this paper, a rapid evaluation method of wheel polygonalization feature and reprofiling, which is based on vehicle interior noise monitoring and coherent relationship between noise spectrum and wheel out-of-round wear, is proposed for high-speed train. More than eight hundred high-speed trains, including five vehicle types, were monitored for each coach interior noise, and wheel polygonalization state and re-profiling were evaluated with this method. Furthermore, the influence of vehicle type, vehicle interior noise level, wheel out-of-round wear excitation frequency and order characteristics as well as running mileage after wheel re-profiling on wheel polygonalization were respectively analyzed using statistical analysis of the measured data. The results indicate that the proposed method has strong feasibility in field operation, and excellent monitoring effect of wheel polygonalization state. The results of correlation analysis are important for the vehicle interior vibration and noise control of high-speed trains and the study of wheel polygonalization.
