Abstract

The current status of relativistic atomic structure theory is reviewed with an emphasis on the multiconfiguration Dirac–Fock method and relativistic many-body perturbation theory. The relative importance of electron correlation, relativistic and quantum electrodynamic corrections is discussed by comparing some theoretical and experimental results.
