Abstract

Diseases of the cerebral veins remain an important finding in both incidental and intentional work ups for a variety of neurologic symptoms. This article is a disease-based approach to guide readers through an overview of the various pathologies of the cerebral veins, how they commonly appear clinically and on neuroimaging, and brief discussion on management. Diagnosis of these relies not only on clinical signs, but frequently more heavily on identification with neuroimaging. An interdisciplinary approach, including close collaboration with the reading neuroradiologist is essential in this process. The goal of this review is to provide an overview of the most encountered cerebral venous pathologies and the neuroimaging findings seen in each instance.
