September-fresh and eager for unusual approaches to teaching English, we rejoice, but as the year drones on, we become involved organizing discussion groups, correcting Romeo and Juliet compositions, and attending meetings to introduce word processor software. The inconvenience of arranging for a substitute teacher out-shadows the lure of a visit to a school in a neighboring city. Besides many of us have memories of going to the school across town, sinking into a familiarly carved classroom desk chair, watching a teacher introduce direct objects to the same detached youngsters, eating watery spaghetti in another school cafeteria, and groaning about insolvable problems with a new teacher chorus.
