Abstract

The most recent report from UNICEF on The State of the World’s Children 2002 contains a sadly optimistic statement about children in Afghanistan: despite decades of internal armed conflict during 2000, four national immunization days were completed with an estimated 5.4 million children reached on each day. ‘Five further immunization rounds are planned in 2001’.
