Abstract

Algeria is a country with low HIV prevalence. However, the epidemic is rising with increased rate of infection in women. Sexuality is a taboo subject for all, even more for women. No study has previously focused on this issue for HIV positive Algerian women. The goals of this study are to describe the quality of sex life in this population and the place of its evaluation in the everyday medical practice. Proportional stratified random sampling. A cross-sectional survey of 30 women interviewed with the Female Sexual Function Index (FSFI) administered by a trained community educator. – Women over eighteen years of age – Women with positive HIV test, being treated in the department of Infectious diseases – University of Annaba Hospital, Algeria 30 women with an average age of 34±8 years were interviewed and an FSFI average score of 14.62±6 was found (sexual dysfunction was defined as a total score under 26).
