Abstract

The Institute of Economics of the Polish Academy of Sciences was created more than five years ago. It is now conducting scientific research along three principal directions. The first of these, the most important, is concerned with the major problems of the political economy of socialism and the national economy of Poland; the second is concerned with questions of the political economy of capitalism and the economies of modern capitalist countries. A great deal of attention is being paid to studying the various stages in the history of Polish economic thought and to a critical investigation of current bourgeois economic theories.
