Abstract

This study presents the results of soil gas concentrations and flux monitoring in an urban area with emphasis on CO2 gas. First goal is to establish if gas hazard may exist at city scale and, if not, to locate areas where the presence of gas emissions is likely to occur. Second objective is to evaluate the ways risk management can be undertaken in such populated areas considering learnings from other countries. As CO2 leakage is also of concern for Carbon Capture and Storage applications, comparisons are made between the present study and storage sites.
