Abstract

Abstract Research Objetives: The objetive of this article was to verify the perception of Online Congress participants about the benefits and burdens of this modality. Metodology/Approch: A Survey was aplied to colect and verify the study issue, and a data analisys through descriptive statistics of variables, test of means and factor analysis of data. Originality/Relevance: The study seeks to identify the advantages and disadvantages of Online Congress participation, due to the increasing interest of the scientific community to participate in the modality of distance events. Main results: After the data analisys of the sample, it was possible to verify that the Online Congress participation is positivily affected by the variants costs reducing, time saving, distance reducing and sheltering a bigger number of members, and the variable impersonal nature negatively influences participation, and the findings are consistent, corroborating the influencing factors found in academic studies. Theoretical/methodological contributions: This study contributes to the academy on the importance of Online Congresses for the dissemination of knowledge, and as a theoretical framework, since only few studies on this theme were identified.
