Abstract

It is now well established that the plasticity of quasicrystals at high temperatures is governed largely by thermally activated dislocation glide. Discussion is made of the elementary process of the thermally activated dislocation motion overcoming a quasiperiodic Peierls potential, accompanied by a phason strain relaxation.
