Abstract

EVIDENCE-BASED ANSWER Simple office cystometrics are modestly useful in diagnosing or ruling out detrusor overactivity (DO) in women and very useful in men. They are also moderately useful for diagnosing or ruling out stress urinary incontinence (SUI) in women (SOR: B, meta-analysis of cohort studies). Multichannel urodynamic studies are preferred to simple or single-channel urodynamic studies as a part of a preoperative evaluation, although outcome data about the utility of urodynamic studies are lacking (SOR: C, consensus guideline).
