Abstract

The authors of this article reviewed Good Samaritan laws in 50 states and US airlines. The federal Aviation Medical Assistance Act (AMAA) is a federal statute limiting the liability of medically qualified individuals who respond to medical emergencies on a commercial airplane registered in the United States (US). The AMAA protects physicians from civil lawsuits in both federal and state courts when simple negligence (care is not rendered in the way that a reasonably medically qualified individual would have done so) is in question.
