Abstract

Along with the existence of social media in providing information and the intensity of its use in daily life, social media become one of the main needs of people to access for information about various things, not only to access and search for information but also to deliver, disseminate and provide feedback on information already exist. In past recent years, modern social media has been used as a platform in the dissemination of important information such as emergencies and disasters. In this research, we conduct explorations and experiments to manage social media data specifically Twitter to get useful disaster information about of one of Indonesia worst natural disaster in 2018, tsunami Palu. Data from social media Twitter namely tweets are retrieved and analyzed to find out the tendency and overview of information that existed on Twitter during tsunami Palu. The results shows that most dominant data can inform from social media is about support and pray to tsunami affected people.
