Abstract

In April 2018, the Ödos Project was launched, a shelter pilot initiative for the care and support of migrant women with children promoted by a network of social organizations in Andalusia, Spain. This initiative is designed to offer women who show signs of being victims of trafficking the opportunity to abandon trafficking networks and to have an alternative migration process. This criminological study aims to develop an instrument with which to detect the risk indicators of women who are potential victims of trafficking for sexual exploitation. To this end, risk assessment parameters have been established for shelter residents. To create an ad hoc instrument, a four-phase study was conducted using mixed methodology, which resulted in an improved quantitative pilot questionnaire based on qualitative methodology. The sample used for this study comprised 41 people. Reliability analysis confirms that the indicators used have high internal consistency. The implications of the results for the application of prediction tools in transcultural contexts will be discussed.
