What are the limits of applicability of the theory of micropolar fluids for description of real fluid flows through narrow channels?

Abstract

The aim of the paper is to present the results showing to what an extent the theory of micropolar fluids, based on the model of continuous medium, may be applied to flow through a channel, whose width is comparable to the characteristic dimension of the fluid particle. The problem is not only interesting from scientific point of view, but also important because of its numerous applications.
