Abstract
Young surgeons first starting practice are often faced with the age-old question: “How to be a good junior partner?” Likewise, senior surgeons may wonder how to choose the right junior partner for their practice. As noted in our first Young Arthroplasty Group (YAG) committee editorial, “the process of building a career can be challenging, and having help in navigating through is invaluable” ( 1 Frisch N. Culp B. Kerr J. Lange J. Cohen-Rosenblum A. Waddell B. The Young Arthroplasty Group “YAG”. J Arthroplasty. 2023; (Published online ahead of print Jan 20)https://doi.org/10.1016/j.arth.2023.01.016 Abstract Full Text Full Text PDF Scopus (0) Google Scholar ). This second editorial will review the skills and attributes of an excellent new hire and highlight methods to promote wellness and prevent junior attending burnout. We will also discuss successful senior partner mentorship methods we have encountered in our careers and introduce the concept of sponsorship. We hope these concepts will lay the groundwork for greater collaboration between junior and senior partners.
