Abstract

The family Leeuwenhoekiidae (Acari: Trombidiformes) has a worldwide distribution, and in Brazil it is represented by twelve species in six genera. Of these species, Whartonia pachywhartoni Vercammen-Grandjean was described from specimens parasitizing the little big-eared bat, Micronycteris megalotis and later reported from Seba’s short-tailed bat, Carollia perspicillata (Chiroptera: Phyllostomidae), both from Minas Gerais State.
