Abstract

The wetting and interfacial reaction between the liquid Ag-Cu-Ti and SiO2f/SiO2 composites were studied at 860 °C for various holding durations. Typical interfacial microstructure of the AgCuTi-SiO2f/SiO2 system was firstly investigated. The formation sequence of the reaction layers was discussed. Then the relationship between contact angles and the types of reaction products were revealed. Results show that the formation of the CuxTi6-xO (x = 2, 3) phase plays a key role on the wettability of the AgCuTi-SiO2f/SiO2 system. The microstructural evolution of the reaction products at the AgCuTi-SiO2f/SiO2 interface versus various holding durations was studied. Finally, the wetting mechanism of the AgCuTi-SiO2f/SiO2 system was proposed. This study can offer new insights into the reaction and joining nature of the AgCuTi-SiO2f/SiO2 system.
