Abstract

Two-step synthesis of Silver nano wires on etched borosilicate glass has been performed successfully using a wet chemical method. Field emission scanning electron microscopy reveals the formation of uniform silver nano wires with average diameter 80-100nm. Optical absorption studies show a plasmon resonance peak at 430 nm. These silver nano wires were used to detect Rhodamine 6G via Surface enhanced Raman spectroscopy. Ag nano wires show almost tenfold increase in sensitivity of to detection of Rhodamine 6G. This silver nano wires could be a new type of plasmonic nanomaterial that has great potential for various applications.
