Abstract
Dr. Silvia Penuela is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology at the University of Western Ontario. Her research is directed towards understanding the functions and mechanisms of a new family of channel-forming proteins known as Pannexins as well as their associations with and roles in melanoma and other skin cancers. Dr. Penuela also teaches a fourth-year Anatomy and Cell Biology course, “Translational Models of Cancer.”
