Abstract

The article highlights the complex nature of organised crime in fisheries and elaborates on the various measures that enforcement authorities may use collaboratively to address specific concerns, such as transhipment activities at sea and irregular vessel tracking patterns. This article reports on international fisheries monitoring, control and surveillance under ‘Operation Kurukuru’ in the vast area of the Pacific Ocean in 2012.
