Abstract

Summary Women make up about 30 percent of drug addicts in Germany. This article intends to show the positive effects of gender-focused work with girls and women. This requires a genderfocused approach in understanding the development of addictions as well as in treating them. The author adopts a systemic gender-related stance enriched by practical experience that consists of elements of systemic family therapy and a partisan attitude towards girls and women. This takes into account family constellations and gender-focused problems and is often assessed as helpful by affected women.
