Abstract

The authors propose a new welding technique and machinery for the thermal contact welding thermoplastic parts of electric oil well pumps which efficiently creates welds of higher quality than those resulting from ultrasonic welding and also permits the use of cheaper and more readily available thermoplastics such as polyethylene and polypropylene which do not lend themselves to ultrasonic welding. The annual savings to the industry as a result of the implementation of their technique, and of the substitution of polypropylene for polyamide, amounts to 150,000 rubles.
