Abstract

Investigations were carried out into the properties of sheets and forged 03Kh16N9M2 austenitic steel and the properties of welded joints in equipment working in a wide temperature range from –196 to 600°C. The determination of the mechanical properties of steel and of welded joints and also of cyclic strength characteristics shows that the properties of these steels are higher in a wide temperature range than the properties of 12Cr18Ni10Ti steel. A method was developed for welding bodies of cryogenic equipment with large thicknesses of welded joints with no need for heat treatment.
