Abstract

The welding characteristics of aluminum and copper plate specimens using 19 kHz ultrasonic seam and spot welding systems with a complex-vibration welding tip are studied. Welding conditions of aluminum-aluminum, aluminum-copper and copper-copper plate specimens were measured in the cases where a linear vibration and a complex-vibration welding tip were used. For thick and large welding specimens, a new large capacity complex vibration source that consists of a complex transverse vibration rod and a longitudinal vibration circular disk with six bolt-clamped Langevin type PZT longitudinal transducers was proposed and studied.
