Abstract

Avi Banerjee graduated from UMDS (Guy's) and embarked on his junior hospital training in Maxillofacial Surgery at the Queen Alexandra Hospital, Portsmouth, completing this in 1995 and gaining full FDS RCS(Eng). He then commenced his research career back at Guy's, winning a Clinical Training Fellowship from the MRC which permitted him to complete his Masters in Mineralized Tissue Biology at UCL (under Profs Alan Boyde and Sheila Jones in 1996) and, subsequently, his PhD in Cariology, with Profs Edwina Kidd and Tim Watson as his supervisors (1998). He then began a full-time post as Lecturer in Conservative Dentistry at Guy's, being promoted to Senior Lecturer in 2005, and is presently Head of Pre-clinical Conservative Dentistry.
