Abstract

Flexible electronic systems can be made physically and mechanically compatible with applications requiring folding (such as foldable displays) or form factors that require bending and, in some cases, stretching. The burgeoning field also includes hybrid flexible systems that comprise specially thinned silicon chips (which are flexible) together with other components made with inherently bendable/stretchable materials. Flexible and Printed Electronics has been launched as a new journal that will capture all aspects of this rapidly developing and multidisciplinary field.
