Abstract

The Weinberg sum rules which relate the spectra of the vector and axial-vector mesons are re-examined with special attention to the continuum contributions. An alternative explanation of the equality m A 2 = 2 m V 2 is offered, based on the Johnson sum rule relating the bare and physical masses of a spin 1 particle.
