Abstract

Initially, we congratulate Jensen et al. [1] for the exceptional study, which evaluated the effect of weight loss induced by dietary carbohydrate restriction on Health-Related Quality of Life (HRQoL) and cognition in Type 2 Diabetes (T2DM). First, we highlight the fact that the present study discusses carbohydrate restriction and cognitive capacity in individuals with T2DM, since carbohydrates are the primary brain energy source, depending on the severity of restriction of this macronutrient, morphological and functional complications in the brain can occur to occur.
