Abstract
In this paper, Weighted Essentially Non-oscillatory (WENO) method is introduced to solve population balance models in crystallization processes. Detailed implement of WENO method for one-dimensional Population Balance Equation (PBE) is presented. Two numerical benchmark examples are carried out. Results show that WENO method has higher resolution than 2 <sup xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">nd</sup> upwind method as well as HR-van method (HR method with van Leer flux limiter). Therefore, WENO method is recommended in crystallization simulation when the crystal size distributions are sharp and higher resolution is needed.
