Abstract

The use of chord functions in shape recognition has been investigated by many authors, with most attention on the angle chord function as the metric chord function has weak discriminatory power. We introduce weighted chord functions which incorporate the metric information into the angle function. They enhance the performance of the angle chord function by emphasizing the chords that carry more information: the longer chords.
