This umbrella site provides links to partner organisations, a wide array of resources on sports for children and adults, and full-text articles from the peer-reviewed International Electronic Journal of Health Education. http://www.acsm.org The “Newsroom and Publications” section of the ACSM site offers a large number of downloadable (pdf format) brochures, position papers, and comments on various issues, such as caffeine and athletic performance, eating disorders, and supplements. http://www.ausport.gov.au Highlights of this robust site include: summaries and links to ongoing sports research projects; information on women and sports, children and sports, risk management, drug-free sport, and funding; resources on school athletic programmes, innovation, and best practice; and club development advice. http://www.caaws.ca/e CAAWS is dedicated to gender equity in sport. Its site provides research, downloadable statistics, fact sheets, and “key messages” aimed at boosting the self-esteem and success of female athletes. http://www.ncpad.org “Every body needs some physical activity to get and remain healthy” is NCPAD's key message. Its site offers exercise video clips (Real Player), research abstracts, fact sheets, and articles written by people with disabilities, by family members, and by caregivers. http://www.cdc.gov/nccdphp/dnpa/physical/index.htm This portal site from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention features materials to facilitate embarking on an exercise programme, and resources for health professionals, including relevant weblinks and downloadable (pdf format) research and handbooks. http://www.scotland.gov.uk/topics/health/health/introduction/introduction “In Scotland, only 34% of the population are aware of how much physical activity is needed for good health.” This site provides detailed information about the Scottish Executive's programme of action to increase the nation's physical activity and the policy behind it.
