Abstract

In this paper we propose a novel design, called Web-based remote control service (WBRCS) system. It can simultaneously contain and provide many remote control services through which any person is able to control, simply using a Web browser, any pre-registered device in the Internet. The service can build up itself dynamically. A self-organization scheme is presented too for the service integration. Based on the Extensible Markup Language (XML), the protocol in scheme possesses extensibility and cross-platform. The console of a remote control service, a Java application, is accessed simply through a Web browser. Besides, a device-independent interface is researched.
