Abstract
Recently, Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology has been regard as one important technology for improving management efficiency. This study aims to enhance facility maintenance by integrating RFID, web-based, and artificial intelligence techniques. To achieve the goal, threes modules are developed where data management module is used for collecting facility maintenance records. The second module, i.e. statistical module, is used to display the maintenance records graphically. The third module, a prediction module, is established to predict maintenance operations using fuzzy neural networks. A web-based RFID facility management system is then developed to provide functions of these three modules. The applicability of RFID technology to facility maintenance is tested using environmental challenges. This research validates the performance of the developed system by a real case study. Validation results indicate RFID technology is appropriate for practical maintenance environments. The proposed RFID system can improve facility data transfer, management efficiency, data quality, planning, malfunction prevention, and service process time.
