Abstract

This work aims at the development of an automated test bench using a LabVIEW virtual platform with features of a web-based data acquisition and remote control. An induction motor coupled to a dc generator set up is considered in this study; the set up is further upgraded and modified by adding suitable instrumentation and measurement facilities. Accuracy of the acquired data is validated and confirmed by standard power analyzer. A basic web-publishing architecture is developed for on line access of performance parameters, display of electrical and non-electrical quantities. Remote data access and control is assured by complete isolation from the electrical power lines. The developed setup consists of signal conditioning boards, sensors for acquiring data, relay contactor circuits for switching control and a pulse width modulation (PWM) controlled MOSFET for control of the dc generator armature voltage during open and closed loop operation. Acquired data, evaluated performance parameters and graphical plots of the test results are presented through user friendly Graphic User Interface (GUI) created using LabVIEW. The proposed automated test bench has a capability of remote data acquisition, monitoring and control of motor-generator (MG) set up which saves space, time and human resources.
