Abstract

Web search has become an integral part of Internet activity. As the Internet is a gigantic information repository, the desired information is one hop away with a search engine. Desktop based Internet activity has become quite common, ranging from a typical e-mail to complex program execution using a browser or other GUI based tool. Interestingly, advances in wireless and mobile technologies are enabling end users to be part of the Internet even on the move. Short messaging services and interactive city maps have already become quite popular with mobile devices. However, in view of limited resources, tapping the full Internet service is still an open challenge. We present an iconized concept tree (ICT) framework for Web search. It makes query presentation and the resulting navigation simple and pleasant. ICT is demonstrated in two applications, viz. farming (farm-assistant) and primary health (health-assistant).
