Abstract

Taiwan faces frequent natural disasters, but it makes great efforts to develop tourism. Thus, the evaluation of losses caused by severe disasters on the tourism industry by means of information has been a topical subject to the government, the tourism industry, and the insurance industry. This study aims to develop a tourism risk evaluation network service platform aimed at the demands of government departments, the insurance industry, and the tourism industry in Taiwan. The proposed platform takes into consideration the geographical and network environment characteristics, and integrates the Web Geological Information System (Web-GIS), disaster risk evaluation technology and host identity protocol (HIP). The findings can serve as a reference for industries in Taiwan to establish a relevant risk evaluation system. The simple and easy-to-use information platform can provide the users with the required disaster risk evaluation information.
