Abstract

This paper discusses Web-based collaborative work strategies to support the access and updating of geographically dispersed information. These strategies rely on an Architecture for Remote Information Exchange (ARIEX), oriented to take advantage of corporate environments where employees, suppliers and customers can share information of mutual interest. The architecture relies on Java language due to its advantage as an independent computational platform and on a 100% pure Java driver for remote database access. ARIEX has been successfully implemented by two systems developed to provide solutions in the manufacturing tooling area, working under proprietary and open philosophies.
